2 die as 18-seater bus plunges into Ogun river 0

graveyard2An 18-seater commercial passenger bus yesterday plunged into River Omo in Ogbere, near Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
Already, corpses of two passengers in the bus have been retrieved from the river.
Local volunteers and divers recovered the bodies of the victims from the river.
Spokesman of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in the South West, Ibrahim Farinloye said the agency was already collaborating with Ijebu Ode Local Government, Ogun State Government  as well as security organisations to carry out rescue operations.
Farinloye confirmed that the corpses and the bus which plunged into the river had been recovered.
Also, four other accidents occurred around Onipepeiye Village along the Abeokuta-Siun-Sagamu Expressway .A  Toyota Hilux police pilot van marked (LAGOS) BP 542 KSF escorting a bullion van belonging to an old generation bank crashed around 1:15p.m, leaving the driver and six police officers critically injured.
A Mazda car with registration number (OGUN) WDE 773 AAA, also crashed around 12: 29p.m. at Orile Imo village, while a Toyota Camry car with registration number (LAGOS) KJA 96 BG crashed around the same Onipepeiye village around 12: 50pm.
Public Relations Officer of Ogun State’s Traffic Compliance and Enforcement (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed the crashes, also stated that the fifth lone accident it involved a truck marked (LAGOS) APP 301 XN, which crashed along the same Onipepeiye axis.
Akinbiyi however, attributed the crashes to over-speeding, which forced the front tyres of the affected vehicles to burst, while the vehicles skidded off the road and crashed.
